Cennina Italy Encounter
A farmer encountered two small beings who took her flowers and a stocking. They left behind one flower as 'payment' and departed in a spinning top-shaped craft, leaving the woman in shock.
On November 1, 1954, during the intense French-Italian UFO wave, Rosa Lotti, a farmer in Cennina, Tuscany, encountered two small beings near a spinning craft. They took her flowers and a stocking, leaving her terrified but unharmed. The case is considered one of the most credible of the 1954 wave.
The Witness
Rosa Lotti was a 40-year-old farmer who lived a simple life rooted in her religious faith. She had no prior interest in or knowledge of UFOs, and she was simply a local resident going about her daily routine.
The Morning
On All Saints’ Day, November 1, 1954, Rosa was walking to the cemetery carrying carnations for the graves. She noticed something in a clearing as she approached the location. There, she observed a craft shaped like a double cone.
The Craft
The craft was described as having a spindle or spinning-top shape, standing approximately 2 meters (6 feet) tall. It had a metallic appearance and featured an opening in its side.
The Beings
Two small creatures emerged from the craft. They were approximately 1 meter (3 feet) tall, wearing grey coveralls, and possessed smiling, friendly expressions. They communicated in an unknown language, and they seemed genuinely curious about Rosa.
The Encounter
The beings approached Rosa, examining her flowers with evident curiosity. They subsequently took some carnations and also took one of her stockings, leaving one carnation behind as if in “payment.”
Rosa’s Reaction
Rosa was understandably terrified but was unable to move. She watched as the beings returned to the craft, which spun and rose rapidly. In a state of terror, she ran to the village.
The Investigation
When investigators found Rosa, she was clearly in shock. Throughout the investigation, her story remained unchanged. Unfortunately, there was a lack of physical evidence, as she had dropped the remaining carnation. Despite this, investigators found her to be completely credible.
The 1954 Wave
This event occurred during the massive 1954 European UFO wave, characterized by hundreds of sightings across France and Italy. It represented one of the most intense periods of UFO activity ever recorded, with numerous reports of landings and encounters with extraterrestrial entities.
Corroboration
Other 1954 Italian cases reported similar small beings, spinning craft, and beings taking samples or objects. These encounters were consistently marked by friendly but alien behavior.
Rosa’s Character
Individuals who knew Rosa Lotti confirmed that she was honest, simple, and not prone to fantasy. She was deeply religious and had no apparent reason to fabricate a story.
Significance
The Cennina encounter is significant due to the witness’s high credibility, the detailed and consistent nature of her account, its place within the broader pattern of the 1954 wave, and the unusual detail of the beings leaving a “payment.” Furthermore, there appeared to be no apparent motive for her to fabricate the event.
Legacy
Rosa Lotti’s encounter represents the kind of close encounter that occurred repeatedly during the 1954 wave. The beings’ apparent curiosity about simple objects—flowers—and their leaving of “payment” continue to puzzle researchers and offer a glimpse into the potential behaviors of extraterrestrial visitors.
