Incident Overview
In October 2023, a law enforcement officer in Colorado filmed something in the sky with a mobile phone and reported it to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). This is the transcript of that recording, which was declassified and published on September 18, 2026 as part of the sixth tranche of the Department of War’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE). The released copy carries redactions.

Status of the case
The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office lists this report as unresolved, which means it has reached no conclusion either way, not that it has found something anomalous. The released material is a mobile-phone recording and the officer’s own description, with no radar, infrared or second-camera data to fix the light’s distance, size or height. That description, a silent light flashing red, blue and green, is also the classic account of a bright star or planet seen low over the horizon, where turbulence in the air splits its light into colours that flicker rapidly; October to January is when the brightest star in the night sky, Sirius, rises in the evening and sits low for hours. That is a candidate to rule out, not a finding, and the released records do not give the direction or time needed to test it. AARO’s own comment points the same way from the camera side: at high zoom a phone’s autofocus and image processing can make a point of light swell, pulse and change shape on its own.
