In 1970, reports emerged of a tall dark figure with hypnotic eyes haunting Highgate Cemetery. Two rival 'vampire hunters' organized hunts that drew media attention and mobs. The phenomenon included animal deaths, vandalized graves, and alleged vampire stakings. The vampire was never found.
