Aguadilla Airport UFO
On April 25, 2013, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft recorded infrared footage of a UFO over Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The object moved at speeds up to 120 mph, appeared to split into two parts, and seemed to enter and exit the ocean without slowing down. Analysis by the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies confirmed the anomalous nature of the object.
The Aguadilla incident provides some of the clearest government-recorded footage of an unidentified aerial phenomenon. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) aircraft captured infrared video of an object that displayed remarkable capabilities - including the apparent ability to enter and exit the ocean without any change in speed. The footage has been extensively analyzed and remains unexplained.
April 25, 2013
The incident occurred during a routine patrol. At approximately 9:20 PM local time at Rafael Hernández Airport (formerly Ramey Air Force Base) in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, a DHC-8 turboprop aircraft operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection was on a standard patrol mission near the airport and coastline.
The CBP Aircraft
The government plane was well-equipped. Operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, part of the Department of Homeland Security, the aircraft carried sophisticated thermal/infrared imaging systems. Trained CBP personnel were operating the aircraft and equipment during a border security patrol along the Puerto Rico coast.
The Initial Detection
The object was first spotted near the airport. The crew noticed an unusual light or object near the runway and began tracking it with their thermal camera. The FLIR system recorded the encounter, with tracking continuing for several minutes.
The Object
The infrared footage shows a distinct object estimated at 3-5 feet in diameter based on analysis. It appeared somewhat spherical or pill-shaped, showing as a heat source on infrared with no visible means of propulsion. No exhaust or conventional propulsion was visible.
Remarkable Behavior
The object displayed unusual capabilities. It moved at speeds varying from 40 to 120 mph and made sharp turns impossible for conventional aircraft its size. At one point, the object appeared to split into two separate objects. Most remarkably, it appeared to enter and exit the ocean.
Trans-medium Flight
The object’s water entry was stunning. The object flew toward the ocean surface and appeared to enter the water without splashing or slowing. It continued on its path beneath the surface before seemingly exiting the water and continuing flight. Its speed appeared constant through the transition.
The Footage
The video has been extensively studied. It consists of several minutes of infrared recording with standard military-grade thermal imaging quality. The CBP operator tracked the object professionally, and the footage was leaked and later analyzed by researchers.
Scientific Analysis
The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) analyzed the footage. SCU conducted a detailed frame-by-frame analysis, calculated speeds, trajectories, and behaviors, and created 3D models to understand the object’s path. They found the object displayed anomalous characteristics.
SCU Findings
The analysis revealed several anomalies. The object’s calculated speeds matched the unusual observations. The apparent splitting into two objects was verified, as was the water entry/exit behavior. No conventional explanation fit all the data.
Airport Response
The incident was noticed by airport authorities. The object was spotted near the runway area, creating a safety concern since an unknown object near an active runway is a serious issue. The event was recorded by official government equipment, though despite the proximity, no collision or near-miss occurred.
Comparison to Nimitz Incident
The case shares features with the famous Nimitz encounter. Both cases involve objects appearing to enter water and both were recorded by official U.S. government equipment. Both have been studied by serious researchers and neither has a satisfactory conventional explanation.
Puerto Rico UFO History
The island has a rich UFO history. El Yunque rainforest has been a hotspot for sightings, and Laguna Cartagena lagoon has been associated with UFO reports. Former military bases have been linked to sightings, and Puerto Rico shows a concentration of UFO activity.
Official Response
The U.S. government has not officially addressed the footage. The footage emerged through unofficial channels, CBP has not publicly explained the recording, and Freedom of Information requests have yielded limited information. The official silence has fueled speculation.
Skeptical Analysis
Critics have proposed explanations including that it could be pelicans or other large birds, a balloon with unusual thermal properties, a small drone with unconventional design, or some kind of debris or object caught in wind. However, none of these explain the trans-medium behavior.
The Trans-Medium Problem
Water entry without slowing poses physical challenges. Water is approximately 800 times denser than air, and entering water at speed would cause catastrophic forces. Water entry should create a visible splash, yet none of these expected effects were observed.
Technical Analysis
Researchers have examined the physics. The object’s speeds were carefully calculated, its path through air and water was mapped, and the behavior implies unknown technology. Technical analysis supports the anomalous interpretation.
Legacy
The Aguadilla footage matters because it was recorded by official U.S. government equipment, the footage has been extensively analyzed by scientists, the object displayed capabilities beyond known technology, trans-medium travel was documented, and it represents some of the clearest UAP footage available.
Whatever flew past Rafael Hernández Airport that night, dove into the Caribbean Sea, and emerged on the other side was captured on official U.S. government infrared cameras. The Aguadilla footage remains some of the most compelling UAP evidence in the public domain.
